How This Promotion Works

The California Lottery is excited to be partnering with Oak Tree Racing Association and the Breeders’ Cup to bring you this unique promotion! Whether you are a loyal Lottery player, an avid horseracing fan or both, this is the promotion for you!

1. Purchase $5 or more of Hot Spot on a single ticket and receive a coupon that includes a unique 20-digit code (a single wager of $50 or more will provide a maximum of 10 web entry codes).
2. For every $5 increment you buy, you receive another code. The more you play, the more chances you have to win!
3. Register here or log in to your account if you have already registered.
4. Enter your codes on this website.
5. For each unique code you enter, you will be randomly assigned a horse racing in the Breeders’ Cup Classic (Race 9).
6. You will be assigned a horse for each entered code after the official race line-up has been set. Come back to this website on November 4th to see your horse assignments!
7. Now the fun part! Watch the Breeders’ Cup Classic November 7th on ESPN, on breederscup.com or LIVE at Santa Anita Park to cheer on your horse! If your assigned horse (or horses if you enter multiple codes) wins the race, the corresponding code will be entered into a drawing for 456 prizes, including a top prize of $50,000!
8. SPECIAL BONUS DRAW! All entries received by Friday, October 23rd will go into a special bonus drawing for a chance to win a VIP Breeders’ Cup Experience – four tickets for the live race on November 7th, VIP access to the Trophy Lounge including food and beverage, and $1,000 spending money! 1. If your horse is scratched from the race prior to Friday, November 6th at 7:00 a.m., you will receive a replacement horse. If you have entered multiple codes, and more than one of your horses has scratched from the race prior to Friday, November 6th at 7:00 a.m., you will be assigned a replacement horse for each of your scratched horses. 2. After the 7:00 a.m. deadline on Friday, November 6th, there will be no replacements for scratched horses. Unfortunately, if your horse is scratched after this time – including on race day – your affected code(s) will not be eligible for the drawing.
3. THE DEADLINE TO ENTER YOUR CODES IS MIDNIGHT ON FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 6TH, 2009.
4. Check back on Saturday, November 14th to see if you won!
